A brand born of a journey,
of an encounter,
and of a shared truth:
the simplest gestures
often bring the most relief.

Jess & Benoît Founders · China & France

In 2019, during a trip to China, Jess — since become my partner and co-founder of Uplife — introduced me to an age-old practice she had seen throughout her childhood: Chinese cupping.

What struck me first was how self-evident the gesture is. A few cups placed, a few minutes, and the tension gives way. Everything we sought in a massage session, but doable at home, with no appointment, no time lost — for the cost of a single half-hour session.

I returned to France with a question that would not let go of me: why is this gesture, so natural, not more accessible?

As I read up on my return, I discovered that cupping is not only Chinese. It is part of our own tradition.

Our grandparents, our great-grandparents used it — often in glass, sometimes with a flame — to relieve rheumatism, back pain, chest heaviness. A practice that almost faded away in the West, while it went on living, intact, on the other side of the world.

This double discovery changed everything. What Jess had to pass on was not an exotic object, imported from a distant culture. It was a return to a shared knowledge, only waiting to be reawakened.

And at the very same time, almost without anyone noticing, the gesture came back to the fore.

Michael Phelps wore the round cupping marks at the Rio Olympic Games. Neymar, Karim Benzema added them to their recovery routine. Not as a passing fad — as a tool that works, and that there is no need to reinvent.

The technique evolved too. The flame, long reserved for practitioners, gave way to the manual pump. Fragile glass yielded to polycarbonate and polyester — safer, more precise, allowing the suction intensity to be dosed to the exact gesture.

For the first time, this ancestral gesture becomes fully domestic. It is this moment that Uplife chose to exist.

Chapter IV

Three convictions,
a single way of doing things.

i.

Accessibility

An ancestral gesture, within reach.

The Uplife Kit is designed for beginners as much as for regular users. High-quality polycarbonate, ergonomic suction pump, multilingual manual: the practice becomes safe, controllable, accessible from the very first use.

ii.

Support

A product is not enough — you have to know how to use it.

The kit comes with an illustrated multilingual manual, enriched with educational videos. No one should buy a kit and not know where to start.

iii.

Authenticity

Respecting the gesture, without reinventing it.

The Uplife Kit is made in China, within the network of artisans Jess built up during her years there. A short, chosen supply chain that guarantees fidelity to the gesture as it has been passed down for generations.

Chapter V

Our commitments,
kept or nothing.

Six concrete promises — no superlatives, no greenwashing, just what we do and what we can prove.

No therapeutic claims

Cups relieve and support — they do not cure. We refuse promises we could not keep, even when they are commercially appealing.

Written and filmed guidance

Illustrated manual in every kit, a complete ebook and educational videos online. All the knowledge needed to start with confidence, then go further.

Authentic sourcing in China

A short supply chain, chosen through the network of artisans Jess built up during her years there. No opaque middleman, no anonymous marketplace.

Bamboo case, fine materials

A genuine bamboo case and high-resistance polycarbonate cups for the Uplife Kit. Every material choice is made to last and to support the gesture.

Free 30-day returns

Thirty days to change your mind. The kit must come back to us new and unused, for obvious hygiene reasons. Return costs on us, full refund within seven business days.

2-year warranty + spare parts

A 2-year legal warranty of conformity. Spare parts available for at least 2 years after each kit was last placed on the market. Our objects are made to last.

To close.

We believe in the gestures that cross the ages. In those that are passed on, that are perfected, that need no speeches. Our role is not to invent what tradition has already perfected — it is to make it accessible, here, now, in today's language.
